Win an iPad with Sport Makers

Active Sussex, in partnership with Brighton and Hove City Council's Sport Development Team, is giving you the chance to win an Apple iPad 2 with Wi-Fi and 16GB storage for all your favourite music, movies and apps.

To be in with a chance of winning just come along to one of our workshops in Brighton, where you can find out about the great work Sport Makers do to make sport happen in the city. Once you've attended a workshop you will be on your way to becoming a Sport Maker and ready to start inspiring friends, family and the local community to get involved in sport.

To enter the free prize draw to win an iPad, simply go to our Sport Makers Facebook page or online entry form, and then sign up to attend one of the following Sport Makers workshops taking place in Brighton –

25 May at Jubilee Library 10.00am – 1.00pm

27 May at Brighton Centre 10.00am – 1.00pm

As a Sport Maker you will have the chance to get close to the action at some of Brighton's most exciting sporting events. Whether it's planning the route, finding the pitch, volunteering at the TAKEPART Festival of Sport, or encouraging people to take part in Paddle Round the Pier – sport doesn't just happen, it needs people to make it happen. Sport Makers gives you the skills, knowledge and opportunities you need to get more people playing sport and being active in Brighton & Hove. You'll get free Adidas Kit and the chance to win tickets to great sporting events. You'll also be an official part of the Olympic and Paralympic sports legacy in Brighton and you'll meet loads of new people along the way.

Who are Sport Makers?

Sport Makers are the people who make sport happen – people like you. They are the organisers, the 'doers', the ones you can rely on to get things started or keep them going.

They might be organising sport informally for themselves and their friends by:-

  • Organising a friendly tennis session for work colleagues
  • Rounding up some mates for a regular five-a-side football session

Or maybe they won't take part themselves, but will do all those things that make sport possible, such as:-

  • Organising a fundraising fun-run
  • Creating a multi-sport event or festival for the local community

Does that sound like you? If so, read on…

How do I become a Sport Maker?

Becoming a Sport Marker is easy. First, come to an informal workshop where you will explore some of the benefits of being involved. At the same session you can:

  • Work out how to get sport or activity sessions going with friends, colleagues or the community
  • Find opportunities to get involved in making sport happen in your area

Once you’re signed up on the Sport Makers website, you can choose whether to go a smaller workshop with around 20 other Sport Makers, or a larger convention with about 100. You and your friends can arrange to come to the same event.

After the workshop it’s over to you. We will support you with advice, information, connections and resources and you’ll also get free Adidas kit.
