Playground to Podium

Background
Playground 2 Podium is the framework to help young people progress from PE and community sport to high level performance and competition. By bringing together the Youth Sports Trust, Sport England, Paralympics GB and the English Federation of Disability Sport, a pathway has been created to ensure that Britain finds and supports its next Paralympic Heroes.
Active Sussex has been given the responsibility of delivering the county element of the P2P programme. This involves holding a County Athlete Assessment Day (CAAD) for swimming, table tennis, wheelchair basketball, athletics and football. At this event identified children will be coached by top National Governing Body coaches and those with the potential to progress further will be put onto the pathway for further support.
To date, it has not been possible to run the P2P programme in Sussex. Active Sussex is awaiting details of how the programme is to be delivered in future years.
