Active Sussex secures £850,000 Sportivate funds for Sussex

Active Sussex has successfully secured £850,000 of funding to deliver Sussex Sportivate projects.

Sportivate is a nationwide campaign that captures the excitement of the London 2012 Games. It provides teenagers and young adults aged 14-25 with 6-8 weeks of coaching in a sport of their choice, followed by guidance into regular sports participation in their communities.

Sportivate in Sussex will commence in July 2011 and will run for four years until March 2015. During this time the projects that Active Sussex supports will aim to engage with 7,909 participants aged 14-25 and support their participation in sport after the end of the coaching sessions.

Active Sussex is now inviting applications from organisations that would like to apply for funding to deliver activities between July 2011 and March 2012.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 3 May. Please email your completed Project Application Sheet to Joanna Irving at

The deadline is strict and applications will not be accepted after this time.

Applications may re-open later in 2011 but only if the allocated Year 1 funding is under spent. To avoid disappointment, please ensure you meet the above deadline for any projects you wish to run up until March 2012.
