Women’s Sport Week Returns for 2017
Categories: This Girl Can
Women's Sport Week returns this summer to help more women and girls get involved in sport.
Women's Sport Week will take place between 19 - 25 June 2017.
This year is set to be one of the greatest years yet for elite women's sport; Cricket and Rugby World Cups, European Football Championship, Hockey Championship, Lacrosse World Cup and more. Women's Sport Week, starting on 19 June 2017 is kicking off this action packed summer schedule of women and girls sport.
Tracey Crouch, Minister for Sport said: "We want more women and girls to get involved in sport and enjoy the huge benefits that being active brings to their lives. Women's Sport Week is a fantastic campaign that encourages more women to try out a new sport or physical activity and celebrates the amazing achievements of our female athletes, coaches and volunteers.
With a number of major events taking place, 2017 is a big year for women's sport and I know that the nation will be right behind our inspirational female stars."
Women's Sport Week 2017 will continue to build on the momentum of last year's successful week which took place in October 2016, and will encourage people to get involved with women's sport by watching, volunteering, debating and taking part in activities.
This year's campaign is supported by a range of partners, Women in Sport, BBC Sport, Sky Sports, Department for Culture Media and Sport, Sport England and National Governing Bodies of Sport.
Partners in the sector will be encouraged to promote, engage and support this year's Women's Sport Week where they can, with details of resources becoming available to partners soon via Women in Sport website here.
