Booking is now open for the Active Sussex Conference 2019 - a must attend networking event for organisations and partners who deliver physical activity and sport in Sussex.

The conference will take place at the American Express Community Stadium, Falmer, on Thursday 19 September, from 9.30am-3pm.

Active Sussex are delighted to announce Born Barikor, founder and CEO of Our Parks, the visionary initiative that brings group exercise classes to all ability levels and ages, as the headline key note speaker at the Active Sussex Conference 2019.

Led by experienced, fully qualified instructors in city parks within 18 London boroughs and in partnership with local authorities, Our Parks have also expanded into Central Bedfordshire. The long-term plan is to establish a firm foothold in every major city in England.

The conference will also feature inspirational keynote speakers; Marie Burgess, Head Teacher, St. Leonard's Church of England Primary Academy, whose presentation will focus on engaging families in physical activity.

And Rosie Sadler, Physical Activity Coordinator, Albion in the Community, who will discuss physical activity through and after cancer.

In the afternoon there are two galvanising workshops, the first covering long term conditions, delivered by Horsham, Mid Sussex and Crawley CCG and the second - workforce training for inactive audiences, run by Ad Lib Training.

This year’s conference programme is designed to explore the different approaches and outcomes of engaging inactive audiences, in-line with our Active Sussex Strategy priority groups:

  • Children & young people
  • Older people
  • People with a long-term condition or disability
  • People living in deprived areas with high rates of inactivity

The conference will be a great opportunity to be inspired and develop new ideas through presentations, best practice, case studies, workshops and networking.

Places cost £45 plus VAT, and include lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

Bookings are open, on a first-come first-served basis, so we recommend booking earlier. Please click here to book.

We hope to see you at the Active Sussex Conference 2019.
