The Active Sussex Conference 2025 will take place on Tuesday, September 23 at The American Express Stadium, Brighton.
Places at the Active Sussex Conference on Tuesday, September 23, at the American Express Stadium, Brighton, have sold out!
The Conference, which formally runs from 10am until 2pm, gives those working in the sport and physical activity sector the opportunity to connect, learn, and explore the hot topics affecting us all today.
Doors will open at 9:15am, giving plenty of time for a coffee and catch-up with colleagues, before the Welcome at 10am.
Chief Executive, Anthony Statham, will open the day with a look at system change and what it means for Sussex. Whether it’s changes in delivery, funding, or infrastructure, the evolving landscape will inevitably raise questions, but also present valuable opportunities. The Conference provides a perfect opportunity to unpack some of these, helping ensure that Sussex is not only prepared for change but positioned to lead and thrive as it unfolds.
The floor will then be handed over to attendees, for the ever-popular Innovation Station- quick-fire updates. This short session gives delegates the chance to introduce themselves, share new opportunities and spotlight the exciting work they are doing.
After a mid-morning break, the conversation will turn to the motivations to be physically active, how that may change throughout life, and how the sector can align with that to give participants in Sussex the most positive experiences. The Physical Literacy Model, looking at how we move, connect, think and feel, will be unpicked, with learnings from the successful Patch Work programme in Devon. The session will challenge delegates to really think about the people at the heart of their communities and activities.
The final session will explore Active Environments, and the role we all play in bringing our places and spaces to life. This session will introduce the concept of active environments, and highlight the importance of making the places and spaces in our communities healthy and active in the current climate. The session will hear from a project where active environment and design principles have been used successfully and will showcase what impact this has had.
To wrap up the day, a networking lunch will be provided, allowing space to digest the sessions, and to spend some time with connections from across the county; new and old.
Places are £30, and include arrival refreshments, tea/coffee throughout the day and a hot lunch. Once again, places at the Active Sussex Conference have sold out.
