Active Sussex launches new trustee recruitment process with Applied
Active Sussex News
Active Sussex aims to drive change locally with regards to addressing inequalities in sport and physical activity, however this also starts with reflecting on ourselves and our own practices to ensure we are equitable. When it comes to recruiting, either to the operational team or to our board of trustees we want to make sure our hiring process reflects fairness and candidates are more representative of the county and communities we serve.
We are now recruiting four new trustees to join our board, and to support our diversity journey we have connected with Applied
, to find a hiring solution that removes bias from the recruitment process.
Although our previous recruitment methods for operational roles used an application form process, we acknowledge that this process could still allow for our own biases to creep in. We know that CVs and covering letters are more of the norm when it comes to trustee recruitment, but as a trust we feel using the Applied platform removes any unconscious bias and hope that prospective trustees are responsive to this change and supportive of our approach.
Active Sussex CEO, Sadie Mason MBE, said:
"As an organisation, we are committed to ensuring our recruitment practices and communications are relevant to everyone, regardless of background. So, we are pleased to be working with Applied to ensure our systems are not perceived as a barrier to application, and will encourage diversity at all levels."
If you are interested in becoming a trustee or would like to find out more, we are holding a session on Monday 10 May 5.30-6.30pm
so you can hear a little more about the role and meet some of our current trustees. Please book your place here.
