Brighton & Hove announced for the first Try Tag Rugby junior programme

Brighton & Hove will be the first place in the UK to run a Try Tag Rugby junior programme.

This week, Try Tag Rugby proudly announced the introduction of its pilot junior programme in the city this spring.

The social sport has developed and expandees a great deal in 15 years, with more than 10,000 adults participating weekly last summer, so the launch of Try Tag Rugby Juniors is an exciting development in the growth of Tag throughout the UK.

Alistair Davis, Try Tag Rugby co-founder and visionary, said: “The launch of our first junior program in Brighton & Hove is a pivotal moment for us.

“Significant time has been spent planning and researching our junior Tag Rugby offerings, and we can’t wait to see the smiles on the faces of Brighton’s children this spring as they get their first experience of Try Tag Rugby.”

Like Try Tag Rugby’s adult offering, the junior programmes of leagues, after school clubs and holiday camps will focus on convenience, fun and friendships.

This aims to be an accessible sport to children of all sporting abilities and backgrounds, with safety, teamwork, social interaction and participation taking precedence over serious competition.

Steph McCabe, Brighton adults and juniors license holder, said: “I’m thrilled to see Try Tag Rugby extend its offerings to young players in our community.

“This pilot program marks the beginning of an exciting journey to get more children active and enjoying team sport.

“I’m looking forward to introducing many more young people to Tag Rugby and witnessing the positive impact it will have on the next generation.”

It is hoped, following the launch of juniors in Brighton that other people will apply for a license to launch Try Tag Rugby juniors in other parts of Sussex and the UK.
