Active Sussex CEO double finalist for Business Women Excellence Awards
The 2018 Business Women Excellence Awards - Sussex Edition has revealed its list of finalists for 2018.
And congratulations to Active Sussex CEO Sadie Mason MBE after being named as a finalist in The Wellness Award and The Inspire Award categories.
Sadie, who has positively contributed to sports development for over 20 years, was shortlisted by a panel of expert judges, after spearheading groundbreaking Active Sussex work over the past 12 months.
"It is an absolute honour to have been named a finalist on behalf of Active Sussex. These are very special awards because they recognise the achievement of amazing women, some of whom are leading great teams across a wide range of businesses," Sadie, an ex-international basketball player of 13 years, said.
"Here at Active Sussex, the whole team ensures that future sport and physical activity focuses on the people and places most in need of the support we can offer and to have this showcased at this year's awards is fantastic."
The Wellness Award recognises those that have made a positive impact on the lives of their clients, promotes good practice to gain new clients and at the same time maintains excellent levels of service for current ones.
Active Sussex demonstrated this through ongoing campaigns and promotions such as This Girl Can, Project 500, work with sport in education including support around Primary PE & Sport Premium, Satellite Clubs. And events including the annual Sussex School Games and the Parallel Youth Games - a multi-sport participation event for disabled children in Sussex.
Active Sussex also promoted good practice which is shared with partners at the annual Active Sussex Conference, Active Sussex Network and Sussex Disability Sports Network while providing services including Workshops & Courses, Funding, Insight and continues to be committed to the welfare of children, young people and adults engaged in sport as demonstrated through the promotion of Safeguarding policies.
The Inspire Award celebrates those who have inspired and encouraged others and demonstrating determination and commitment through their work.
Proving that advancing years are no boundary to remaining active, Sadie has recently been selected to one of two inaugural teams representing Great Britain at the World Masters Basketball Championships in Finland next year, and continues to inspire and advocate lifelong activity.
At work, Sadie is part of the the Active Sussex team where she leads on ways to reduce inactivity in Sussex. Active Sussex has launched a new five-year Strategy this year that strives towards the vision of driving physical activity transformation in the county, with more more people active and healthier communities created through the use of applied insight and an evidence based approach.
"Our five-year strategy reflects a visionary, innovative and collaborative way of working, and aims to make a positive and lasting impact to people’s lives in Sussex," said Sadie.
Active Sussex also celebrates inspiring Sussex sporting stories at the annual Sussex Sports Awards, one of the most prestigious evenings in the Sussex sporting calendar and continues to support local clubs including the UK’s first Club of Sanctuary - Brighton Table Tennis Club (BTTC).
The BWE awards, in its third year, stretch across the whole of the county and are staged to celebrate the success of today’s very best females in business.
Fazia Shafeek, Managing Director of Carrot Events Ltd who run the Business Women Excellence Awards - Sussex Edition, said: "The business world is full of businesses run or headed by women who not only run successful businesses but in many cases also juggle the needs of their families.
"Our business awards are designed to recognise the achievement of these women across a wide range of business categories."
The prestigious black-tie Gala final for the 2018 Business Women Excellence Awards - Sussex Edition will take place at The Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel on the 30 November 2018.
