Congratulations to Jan Sheward from Cancer United who recently receieved the prestigious Medal of the Order of the British Empire (BEM).

The investiture took place at Ham Manor Golf Club, with Lord-Lieutenant Lady Emma Barnard presenting the medal and Her Grace The Duchess of Norfolk reading the citation.

Active Sussex’s Ross Joannides and Nick Chellel were at the ceremony to witness this momentous occasion.

The ceremony highlighted Jan’s outstanding contributions to cancer support and community service through her organisation, Cancer United.

Ross, Strategic Relationship Manager at Active Sussex, said: “It’s been a wonderful event and I think the magic of it has been the people in the room wanting to celebrate Jan and celebrate what Cancer United do.

“I think just to be in that room looking around at the people that are at this event and and looking at what they stand for and what they want to do in terms of how they support people I think is real testament to who Jan is as a person and what this days means.

“Also in attendance were family, friends, colleagues, partners and members of the charity, all of whom have played a crucial role in supporting Jan with everything she has achieved with Cancer United. Furthermore they all have benefited from her tireless dedication and passion to help others.”
