Rother Workforce Project report - Understanding audiences (January 2019)

The six wards in Rother District with the highest estimated inactivity levels were the focus area for this project. Information was gathered on four audiences in these wards.

Residents were surveyed to understand what would motivate them to be more physically active, and what stops them being more active.

To understand what has been successful in getting and keeping people active, existing participants were surveyed.

Coaches were surveyed to find out about their knowledge of behaviour change and their views on coaching inactive people.

Finally, in-depth interviews were carried out with the lead organisers of 15 clubs and activity providers which target inactive people in these six wards.

They answered questions using Sport England’s Inactivity Design Principles as a framework.

These scores provided club-specific and district-wide priorities for development in engaging inactive people.
