The aim of the Sussex Health Instructor Network is to develop and support instructors/personal trainers that are part of the exercise referral pathway and/or working with participants with long-term health conditions.

  • Have you got a passion to improve the wellbeing and outcomes of people living with long-term health conditions?
  • Are you an instructor/personal trainer that works with people living with long-term health conditions? 
  • Are you an instructor/trainer that wants to work with participants with long-term health conditions?
  • Are you looking to connect with like-minded professionals to share good practice and support each other?
  • Do you want to connect with your local health system to improve the pathway and opportunities for people with long-term health conditions to be physically active? 
  • Then the Sussex Health Instructor Network is for you! 

 

The aim of the network will be to develop and support instructors/personal trainers that are part of the exercise referral pathway and/or working with participants with long-term health conditions. The network will:

  • Provide better development opportunities and support to instructors/personal trainers that are part of the exercise referral pathway and/or working with participants with long-term health conditions (Level 3 and Level 4). 
  • Present the opportunity to recruit instructors/personal trainers (Level 2) who want to work with participants with long-term health conditions and upskill them accordingly.
  • Give new and existing instructors the opportunity to come together with other like minded professionals to share good practice and challenges. 
  • Improve instructor knowledge and understanding of the Sussex health system and key NHS priorities, and help make key connections with local health partners to improve the pathway and opportunities for people with long-term health conditions. 
  • Provide the opportunity for instructors to access funding for Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications to upskill themselves, enabling them to connect more effectively with their local health system and provide appropriate physical activity opportunities within their localities.

Nick is the Strategic Workforce Officer for Active Sussex, leading on workforce development for Active Sussex and the implementation of the Workforce Delivery Plan. Nick leads on projects such as the Workforce Investment Fund, Coach Core and Project 500, and is also the CYP Safeguarding Lead Officer for Active Sussex.
