Community of Learning - Let's Get Out There - Engaging women and girls in outdoor spaces

Active Sussex wants to help narrow the gender gap in physical activity in Sussex and in particular address the barriers for women and girls being active outdoors, especially when we have so many amazing green spaces.

Join Active Sussex in supporting the This Girl Can summer campaign – Let’s Get Out There, by coming together with other partners at our next face-to-face Community of Learning event, to:

  • Learn from the Sport England insight around belonging, especially for those women on lower incomes from underrepresented groups  – including Black women, Asian Muslim women, pregnant women, new mothers, and older women.
  • Discuss the Let’s Get Out There recommendations for those who provide and promote experiences for women in natural spaces and in particular better understand women from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Reflect on making spaces safe and welcoming as a follow up to our January 2024 – Empowering women and girls through safe and inclusive active spaces session.
  • Hear examples of what is taking place and provide a space for partners to connect and learn from each other.

When: Monday, July 7, 2-4pm – We invite partner to arrive from 1.45pm with the session approximately running from 2-3.30pm, followed by a 30 minute optional networking walk and talk.

Where: Sussex Innovation Centre, Science Park Square, University of Sussex, Falmer, East Sussex, BN1 9SB.
Accessible public transport options, secure cycle parking and showers, or free parking available.

Bookings are now closed. Contact gfinlay-gray@activesussex | 07760164001 if you would like to attend.
