Sport Welfare: Dementia Friends Awareness Session

Join Rachel Daly, Sport Welfare Officer and trained Dementia Friends Ambassador, for an interactive Dementia Friends awareness session open to anyone involved in sports clubs across the London and South East region.

Dementia affects people in every community, including sports clubs and physical activity settings. This session will help volunteers, coaches, committee members, Club Welfare Officers and anyone involved in sport to better understand dementia and consider how small actions can make a positive difference to people affected by the condition.

Delivered by a trained Dementia Friends Ambassador, the session will introduce the five key things everyone should know about dementia through a range of interactive activities and discussions.

By attending, you will:

  • Increase your understanding of dementia and how it can affect people differently.
  • Challenge common myths and misconceptions.
  • Explore how sport and physical activity settings can be more welcoming and supportive.
  • Consider practical actions that can help people affected by dementia feel included.
  • Become a Dementia Friend and receive a Dementia Friends badge.

This free awareness session is suitable for Club Welfare Officers, coaches, volunteers, committee members, staff and anyone interested in creating positive, inclusive environments within sport and physical activity.
