Freshly Juiced networking breakfast energises local businesses
Our first business breakfast event – Freshly Juiced – took place at the Malmaison Hotel in Brighton on 8th February. We had seventeen local businesses joining us on the day from a diverse range of sectors from leisure and design to legal and printing.
The focus of the morning was to meet and network with local businesses, enjoy a healthy continental breakfast and to thank our sponsors and celebrate their support over the past year.
As the sun streamed in the windows overlooking Brighton Marina, there was a great energy in the room, as over 20 local Sussex businesspeople got to know each other and learned about each other’s different sectors.
Added value from the Sussex Sports Awards
Reflecting back on our flagship event, the Sussex Sports Awards 2017, we saw another successful event which would not have been possible without out the support of our sponsors. Celebrating and showcasing the achievement of our local sportspeople from grassroots to elite level, the Awards mark the biggest event on our calendar each year.
Sponsoring an Active Sussex event is a two-way street and we regularly interact with our sponsors to ensure that they are benefitted from the partnership, through VIP hospitality, networking opportunities and brand visibility.
Looking at our local media coverage specifically, our press coverage reached 474,000 people and generated more than £23,500 of advertising value.
A recent survey of our current sponsors has shown that 95% rated their experience of being a sponsor as average or above, while 80% rated their experience as good or excellent.
Active Sussex Corporate Partnership
We were delighted to have Karen Burrell, Sales and Marketing Director at Freedom Leisure, to talk about the benefits of corporate partnership for their business and how Active Sussex has helped them to get their message across locally. Karen said:
“Growing up in Cornwall, I went to quite a small school and we didn’t have many opportunities. If you were a girl you did hockey or netball. The opportunities to be involved in sport and activity were so limited and that’s probably why I never played sport competitively.
“How different things are now! There are so many opportunities for children and adults alike to take up sports and physical activity. Active Sussex plays a massive part in bringing all of those activities together and signposting people to where they can go to get involved in being active.
“For Freedom, it was quite important to support an organisation that is engaging local people. Running just over 30 leisure centres across the county and being Sussex’s largest leisure provider, there’s a lot of synergy between our organisations. We have been lucky enough to host the Parallel Youth Games and School Games at two of our centres. These events promote team spirit and bring local children together. I’ve gone along as a sponsor and we have invited our own sponsors along as guests. These inspiring events are a great opportunity to network.
“Even though we are working in the sport sector, Freedom is also a local business and we use local suppliers, we’re a big employer and we operate community-specific centres at local level. It’s important to get our message out there. Being an Active Sussex corporate partner we have the opportunity to promote our brand on the Active Sussex website, on social media and through the monthly newsletters. As a result of this partnership we are also able to attend these networking events and meet local businesses from outside our sector.
