A publication reinforcing the benefits of exercise for depression and anxiety. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis to determine what the evidence really shows.
One key take home: Exercise should be considered a legitimate treatment option for depression and anxiety, particularly for diagnosed conditions. However, simply telling patients to “exercise more” is unlikely to be effective. Structured, supervised exercise with a social component can have the highest impact. Exercising with others brings a communal compound effect.
