Active Sussex is committed to closing the gender gap in physical activity by addressing the barriers that prevent women and girls from being active outdoors—despite the wealth of green spaces across our region.
As part of our support for Sport England’s This Girl Can summer campaign, Let’s Get Out There 2025, we hosted an in-person learning session to review the campaign recommendations and draw on the TGC 'Belonging starts with Inclusion' insights.
The event brought partners together to:
- Explore This Girl Can insights on belonging, especially for women from underrepresented groups such as Black women, Asian Muslim women, pregnant women, new mothers, and older women.
- Discuss recommendations from Let’s Get Out There to help create more inclusive and welcoming outdoor spaces.
- Reflect on progress since our January 2024 Safe Spaces session.
- Share real-life examples and connect for shared learning and collaboration.
An informal walk and talk followed the session, giving attendees a chance to continue conversations and network outdoors.
