SHAPE (Strategic Health Asset Planning and Evaluation) Tool

There are some extremely useful data mapping tools that have been designed to help you understand your local area, and pinpoint areas of inequality.

One of my favourites is SHAPE – or Strategic Health Asset Planning and Evaluation Tool to give it a full name. In their own words: “SHAPE Local enables you to overlay your own local datasets with the prepopulated national data, in a private, confidential workspace, to support scenario planning and decision making.” In other words, this has some Government data sets pre-loaded (e.g. areas of deprivation or air quality information). You can also add your own locations to the map.

In order to use SHAPE you need to sign up, but this means you can save settings and preferences making future use easier.

If you think you’d like to know more about how to use it, the Parallel team offer 1hr online training sessions or you can access videos that bring the functionality to life. Email help@shapeatlas.net for more information
