RSA Preventing School Exclusions – Youth Researcher opportunities

Title: Youth Researcher, The RSA (The Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce)

Hours: Casual, £560 over the three years for approx 40 hours of commitment,


The RSA is looking to support young people as part of the Preventing School Exclusion (PSE) Youth Researcher cohort. Working with professional researchers, you will have the opportunity to shape our research design and influence local systems to help build a more inclusive education. 

  • 18 – 25 and living in one of our three partner local
    areas; Oldham, Worcestershire and East Sussex
  • No prior experience as a Youth Researcher needed
  • We’re interested in hearing from young people
    who like to share ideas, value empathy, want to
    learn about community research, enjoy working
    as part of a team, and want to help reduce
    exclusions in their local area.

This opportunity is for people aged 18 –25 years-old (you can still apply if you are 17 but turning 18 before the 1st January 2022 or if your 26th birthday falls before the end of the project in August 2024).

Rhinos Sports Club was created based on the level of elite  experience with Rugby, Martial Arts, Skiing. Rhinos Sports Club wants to give schools and children other options of sports by coaching/educating his team to provide essential professional coaching in Sussex area.

Rhinos Sports Club wants to deliver sport and physical activities both in school curriculum time following the PE National Curriculum and in extracurricular activities before school, at lunch times, after school, with opportunities to deliver evenings and in school holiday periods seven days a week including evenings, weekends and working 1:1.

Staff wellbeing and training sessions are held on a regular basis to promote and encourage a positive workforce.

Cancer Rehab Coach (East Sussex)

Title: Cancer Rehab Coach (East Sussex), Albion in the Community

Albion in the Community’s award-winning physical activity programme for people living with cancer (Brighter Outlook) is looking for a coach to help deliver the programme in East Sussex.
Are you a motivated Level 4 Cancer Exercise Specialist, or an experienced Level 3 GP Referral Instructor that is dedicated and willing to become a Level 4 Cancer Exercise Specialist? 
Ideally you will live in East Sussex or be very familiar with it because the role does involve some travel around the county, meeting clients and running classes. As Cancer Rehab Coach you will provide personalised support as part of the rehabilitation service for individuals living with and beyond cancer, supporting them to increase their physical activity levels and improve their quality of life. 
You will need to be a team player who is also able to work with minimum supervision. The role is initially for 6 months so you will need to be adaptable and able to settle into the role quickly. You will need a full UK driving licence and access to a car. 
It is essential that the post-holder has a Level 4 qualification in Cancer Rehabilitation, or has a Level 3 qualification and experience in GP Referral, and willing and able to undergo training to become a Level 4 Cancer Exercise Specialist (which will be funded).
Hours: 21 per week
Job Type: fix term initially until March 2022, with hope for further funding

The Wellbeing service is part of a county-wide programme in West Sussex to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent ill-health in our local communities. The service provides information, advice and signposts local people to services for help and support.

Do you have:

  • A passion and enthusiasm for supporting individuals to achieve weight loss and a healthier lifestyle? 
  • Knowledge of issues related to weight management and healthy lifestyles, including nutritional and physical activity guidelines?
  • Experience of coordinating community courses (e.g. securing venues, managing client lists / cohort details, ensuring the availability of appropriate resources)?
  • Knowledge of generating referrals and engaging with external stakeholders?
  • The ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including being able to support courses that run in the evening and on weekends?

This role will be responsible for coordinating the WOW (Weight Off Workshop) programme delivered at a variety of community venues across Crawley as well as providing a virtual offer to help reduce the numbers of people who are overweight and obese.
