Event Description

Active Sussex wants to help narrow the gender gap in physical activity in Sussex and in particular address the barriers for women and girls being active outdoors, especially when we have so many amazing green spaces.

That’s why we are getting behind Sport England’s This Girl Can (TGC) summer campaign – Let’s Get Out There 2025  to highlight all of the exciting opportunities that already exist across a range of outdoor partners. This campaign is part of the current phase – Belonging starts with Inclusion – marking the 10th anniversary of This Girl Can.

To support the campaign we are inviting partners to come together to:

  • Learn from the Sport England insight around belonging, especially for those women on lower incomes from underrepresented groups – including Black women, Asian Muslim women, pregnant women, new mothers, and older women.
  • Discuss the Let’s Get Out There recommendations for those who provide and promote experiences for women in natural spaces and in particular better understand women from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Reflect on making spaces safe and welcoming as a follow up to our January 2024 – Empowering women and girls through safe and inclusive active spaces session.
  • Hear examples of what is taking place and provide a space for partners to connect and learn from each other.

A networking walk and talk is being offered at the end of the session for partners to continue to connect in an informal and active way should they wish to.

If you have any questions about this learning event, please get in touch with Gemma Finlay-Gray or Nick Chellel.

We would like to highlight the exciting opportunities that already exist across a range of outdoor partners on the day and as part of the Let’s Get Out There campaign. If you can’t attend so won’t be completing the booking form then please email any any links, case studies or material to comms@activesussex.org.
