Categories: Sport Industry News
An innovative training programme is being rolled out across the South East this summer by swim UK which will link leisure industry skills and qualifications with employers eager to appoint.
The programme is called “#StepIn2Sport”!
Training programmes will be available to become beach or pool lifeguards, gym instructors, first aiders and football coaches with courses being held in both East Sussex and Kent.
The courses will, in many cases be offered freely to anyone aged between 16 & 25 years of age and meets eligibility conditions (including those not in employment).
Paul smith MD of swim UK said – “we really think this will be of interest to school, college and university leavers. It’s an incredible opportunity.
We are going to focus our beach lifeguard courses in Brighton with other courses taking place at various locations across the South east. We are putting together some amazing packages of training which will bolster the skills base in the South East”.
Swim UK have developed links with employers, and learners will be encouraged to progress into employment as either a lifeguard, sports coach or gym instructor.
Links will also be available to further up skill either through a higher level course or an apprenticeship programme.
Swim UK will soon be publishing the dates and times of courses and would particularly welcome enquires from careers advisors at school and colleges.
Paul smith added - at this stage we are asking everyone to email us expressing an interest to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or go to www.swimuk.co.uk or call 01273 434400 (Option 2).
