Meet Active Sussex trustee Ian Da Cunha
In a weekly series, Active Sussex introduces its staff and trustees.
This week we catch up with trustee Ian Da Cunha who sits on the Audit & Governance Committee. Ian is one of our newest trustees, joining Active Sussex in 2022.
Why did you want to become involved with Active Sussex?
I am passionate about sports and physical activity and wanted to be a part of Active Sussex’s mission to increase participation in sport and activity throughout Sussex. Regular exercise and activity are so important to ensuring that our community lives a healthy lifestyle.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Wow, this is a tough one as there are so many countries that I would love to visit.
If I had to choose one, it would be Australia. I had a trip planned in December 2020, but had to cancel due to Covid so I still am very eager to visit.
There are so many places I’d like to see in Australia, including the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru and the Whitsundays.
Also, I work for an Australian company, so it would be great to be able to meet some of my Australian colleagues in person.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to stay active. I particularly enjoy going for walks in the Sussex countryside and exploring new areas of the county. We are spoiled to have such great scenery at our doorstep.
One of my favorite walks is the Seven Sisters Cliffs walk, especially on a sunny day!
I also really enjoy playing basketball and football and regularly play with my friends in my spare time.
Would you be interested in becoming an Active Sussex trustee?
We recruit periodically and are always on the lookout for a diverse range of people who have the skills and expertise to govern Active Sussex, and through our work help to reduce inequalities in accessing physical activity in Sussex.
