Meet trustee Sharon Briggs
In a weekly series, Active Sussex introduces its staff and trustees.
Sharon Briggs has been a trustee since Spetember 2022 and sits on the HR and Nominations Committee.
Why did you want to become involved with Active Sussex?
It’s a wonderful charity, with great employees making a difference.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
When not exercising, I love to bake..it’s all about balance after all!
What would you like seen changed to help encourage more people in Sussex to be physically active?
More of a focus on providers to follow the ethos of Active Sussex…its about what you can do, not what you can’t do.
Everyone from a cleaner, to a receptionist, to an administrator to the qualified staff have such an important role in helping others to enjoy the experience/venue.
People who are anxious about exercising or who think they aren’t fit enough or they won’t ‘fit in’, need to be welcomed and felt valued at every stage of attending an event.
Everyone who is involved in working on that event, should go home at the end of a day knowing that if they have made a difference to just one person who enjoyed themselves exercising, they have done a great job!
Would you be interested in becoming an Active Sussex trustee?
We recruit periodically and are always on the lookout for a diverse range of people who have the skills and expertise to govern Active Sussex, and through our work help to reduce inequalities in accessing physical activity in Sussex.
