May is National Walking Month
Categories: Health & Wellbeing
It’s National Walking Month! Hooray. Now let's get walking.
National Walking Month is a campaign to promote the benefits of walking and to get everyone walking, no matter what your level of fitness is.
Walking is simple and free and one of the easiest ways to be more active, lose weight and become healthier. This year's campaign is being led by LIVING STREETS.
To kick off Living Streets' National Walking Month, thousands of people in the UK's biggest cities were asked to rate how walking friendly their city is!
The results are in - and Edinburgh has been crowned the most walkable city in the UK! But how does your nearest city measure up?
This National Walking Month you are being asked to speak up about your town or city and Rate Your Walk using the Living Streets' simple online tool. And to celebrate the month, everyone who rates a walk during May will be entered into a prize draw to win a family city break!
There are many ways for you to get involved this National Walking Month - check out the #Try20 fun tips to keep you on your feet the whole month.

Walk to School Week
Walk to School Week is 15-19 May 2017.
Join thousands of children across the country celebrating the benefits walking brings.
We know that walking to school makes children feel healthier and happier, while reducing congestion and pollution outside the school gates. Yet less than half of primary school children currently walk to school.
Living Streets want to reverse this decline and see every child that can, walk to school. For more information please visit the Living Streets' website and consider how you can encourage schools in your area to support the campaign.
Happy National Walking Month!
