New We Are Undefeatable research and resources

Categories: Health & Wellbeing Insight

New research and a leaflet are part of the continuation of the We Are Undefeatable campaign, which is aimed at helping people with long-term health conditions to get or keep active.

The insight pack is for supporters and partners of the campaign, to help them develop their own activation plans.

Meanwhile the leaflet and pull-out is for households that are less, or not, digitally engaged and is being distributed by partners and supporters in their local areas.

“We Are Undefeatable was created in response to a deep exploration of the barriers faced by people living with long-term health conditions, responding to their feelings and needs by supporting them to build physical activity into their lives in a way that their condition allows,” said Lisa O’Keefe, our executive director of insight.

“Our research shows how important this continues to be.

“We’re all in unfamiliar territory, so we feel this insight can be a valuable guide when you’re developing plans and supporting people with health conditions, as well as for activating the We Are Undefeatable campaign.”

Prior to coronavirus (Covid-19), people in England with long-term health conditions were almost twice as likely to be inactive as people without a health condition.

Despite the inequality, the recent Active Lives reports showed that progress was being made, with a the most recent figures showing a steady and significant increase in the proportion of adults with a disability or long-term health condition who are regularly active – as well as a steadily decreasing proportion who are inactive.

However, there are signs that coronavirus is disrupting this progress for some.

We’re all in unfamiliar territory, so we feel this insight can be a valuable guide when you’re developing plans and supporting people with health conditions.

The new insight pack collates information from a range of sources to provide campaign supporters and partners with the most up-to-date picture of activity among adults with long-term health conditions, as well as what they’re thinking in light of coronavirus.

Another resource to help them keep or get people active will be the new leaflet, which includes an exercise guide to support getting active at home.

The leaflet will be distributed via supermarkets, We Are Undefeatable activation areas and though the campaign’s charity partners – it's also available to download here.

Also new to the hub is an ‘Activation ideas and inspiration’ section, which includes a selection of case studies, more information on the 10 targeted activation areas, information and opportunities for health system workers, support for the physical activity workforce, details on how partner charities are delivering the campaign, and a portal for partners to tell us how they’re supporting the campaign.
