Active Sussex launches Impact Report 2024/25

Active Sussex is delighted to announce the release of its Impact Report 2024/25, reflecting on a year of innovation, collaboration, and progress across the county.

This year has been an exciting one, with several major projects delivered in the health sector.

It also marked the final year of funding for the CYP Investment Fund and Opening School Facilities Fund, with new ways of working now fully embedded for the future.

The report stands as a testament to the incredible work happening across Sussex thanks to the dedication of our partners, who continue to break down barriers and create opportunities for people to get active.

Guided by insight, our focus has been on communities and groups who still face the greatest challenges in accessing sport and physical activity.

Now in the second full year of our five-year Getting Sussex Moving strategy, we remain committed to our three core objectives:

  • Working with partners to collectively address barriers to physical activity.

  • Investing in projects that support inactive audiences.

  • Listening to diverse lived experiences to shape decision-making.

The Impact Report showcases a wide range of achievements and stories, from the joy of School Games events to the inspiring launch of the Stroke Reconditioning Project in Bexhill, which is now expanding further across Sussex – watch this space.

It also highlights our continued commitment to diversity and inclusion, workforce development, and creating opportunities through campaigns such as ‘This Girl Can’ and ‘This Mum Moves’.

Our events are always the highlight in our calendar – and hopefully yours – and our 2024 Sussex Sport & Physical Activity Awards did not disappoint.

The stories that emerged from these awards were inspiring and sometimes quite moving; we look forward to hearing the stories from this year’s winners when they are announced in November.

We also encourage readers to visit our YouTube channel, where videos capture moments that matter, including features on disability sports like Boccia and Showdown, the importance of male allies in women’s sport, and the growing role of activities such as bouldering and skateboarding in supporting wellbeing.

We invite you to read the full report and our two-page summary, which celebrate the collective achievements of 2024/25, as we look ahead to another year of Getting Sussex Moving.
