Countdown is on for Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 in Brighton and Hove
The biggest-ever Women’s Rugby World Cup kicks off in England in less than one year, with Brighton and Hove one of the host cities.
For the first time, the elite women’s rugby tournament will be hosted across eight venues and cities nationwide over six weekends, from August 22, 2025, to September 27, 2025.
Alongside Brighton and Hove, other host cities include Bristol, Exeter, London, Manchester, Northampton, Sunderland, and York.
In line with World Rugby’s mission to broaden the sport’s appeal, the tournament is anticipated to be the family event of the year.
Ticket prices will range from £5 to £95 across the tournament, with more than 60 per cent of tickets under £25 and children’s prices available at every match, including the knockout phase. Accessible tickets will also be available for all matches.
And with 95 per cent of the population within two hours travel time to a venue, there are more opportunities than ever before for fans to attend from across the host nation.
To celebrate the year countdown, a video entitled ‘This Energy Never Stops’ features stars who are set to shine brightly at England 2025, including Red Roses full-back and Team GB sevens player Ellie Kildunne, France captain Manaé Feleu, South Africa captain Babalwa Latsha and Black Ferns full-back Renee Holmes.
Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 Managing Director, Sarah Massey, said: “The 12-month countdown to Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 has officially begun and we are thrilled to launch ‘This Energy Never Stops’ which is an invitation to rugby fans old and new to experience unique energy of women’s rugby on the sport’s biggest stage.
“The film released not only celebrates the incredible talent and determination of these elite athletes, but also recognises the unstoppable rise of women’s sport globally.
“England 2025 will be a spectacular moment for rugby, with powerful personalities, unstoppable athletes and compelling competition and with women’s sport continuing to break new records, there is no better time to join the celebrations.”
More than 400,000 tickets will be available for the 10th edition of the pinnacle women’s event, which kicks off at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on August 22. This is more than double the number available for RWC 2021 (played in 2022) in New Zealand.
Fans hoping to get tickets to the matches can register now via the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 website to enter the presale, which take place from 10am on September 25 until 10am on October 8, 2024.
16 teams will compete to be crowned world champions, with England, Canada, France, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, Fifi, USA, Japan, and Brazil already through.
The remaining six teams will need to qualify through the final qualifying competition, WXV 2024.
