Meet the Active Schools Officer
In a weekly series, Active Sussex introduces its staff and trustees.
David Taylor is the Active Schools Officer and has worked at Active Sussex for five years.
Why do you enjoy working for Active Sussex?
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am a big sports fan and enjoy watching, spectating and playing whenever I can. My main sport is cricket and I am the club secretary, treasurer and player for the village where I grew up. I also coach junior cricket throughout spring and summer too. Outside of cricket I enjoy running, kayaking and going on long walks with my wife Kathryn and labrador Margot.
Before working for Active Sussex I worked in Sussex primary schools in a multitude of roles, including that of PE teacher and PE subject leader for eight years. My wife is also a primary school teacher, so I like to think that I have a good understanding of how the school system works, the pressures that come with jobs in education and how much of a positive impact physical activity can have on pupils, both within and outside of school.
