Rix & Kay Solicitors LLP proud supporters of the Sussex Inclusive Sport & Physical Activity Conference 2022
On 22 June, the Sussex Disability Sports Network will host the Sussex Inclusive Sport and Physical Activity Conference 2022 and Rix & Kay Solicitors LLP is delighted to be supporting the event in partnership with Active Sussex.
The Sussex Disability Sports Network has, as its primary aim, the goal of supporting and promoting the development and provision of disability sport and inclusive physical activity across Sussex. It does this by working with a wide range of partners from the field of inclusive sport and identifying and empowering ‘SDSN Champions’.
Inclusive sport is a subject Rix & Kay Solicitors LLP is passionate about. While the firm has been well known locally for many years for providing support and assistance to grass roots organisations including local cricket, football and rugby clubs, as well as sporting charities including Active Sussex, it has, over recent years, focused more closely on the issue of inclusion and collaboration.
In this regard, in 2019, Rix & Kay hosted an event in collaboration with Sussex County Cricket Club to bring together sports and physical activity providers, including Active Sussex, to discuss and consider how they could improve the provision of inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities across the county and how working together with one another might enable this. Since then, Rix & Kay has hosted a number of follow up events, worked closely with many of the attendees and connected with the Sussex Disability Sport Network.
The Sussex Inclusive Sport and Physical Activity Conference 2022 is the culmination of the work Rix & Kay, Active Sussex and the Sussex Disability Sport Network have been undertaking since 2019 and the firm is extremely excited about what promises to be an informative and inspiring event. It will also be the Sussex Disability Sport Network’s first face to face event since the pandemic, which is certainly cause for celebration.
The Conference, which will take place at the Amex Stadium, aims to begin the process of opening up a dialogue with a view to understanding better how we might improve access to and participation in sport and physical activity for people with disabilities. It will pose key questions concerning barriers to participation and the role of education providers in improving inclusive opportunities, as well as allowing the attendees to participate in some activity taster sessions at the end of the day.
The event will also include a keynote address by Paralympian Fabienne André, Great Britain Wheelchair Racer and Double European Athletics Champion, who will be able to share her personal experience of disability sport and physical activity provision, both as a Paralympian and through her work as a physiotherapy assistant at Chailey Heritage School.
Rix & Kay has worked with Active Sussex for over 15 years, both through the provision of legal services and working collaboratively to assist local sports providers, including hosting a number of earlier sports conferences.
Amy White, Rix & Kay Solicitors LLP said:
The firm is honoured to be working with Active Sussex again in connection with the Inclusive Sport and Physical Activity Conference and looks forward to what promises to be an educational and engaging day.
