The Seahaven Para Games is Back for 2016

Building on the success of past Seahaven Para Games, the 2016 Games will be returning to Seaford on Sunday 7th August for a fifth year at The Downs Leisure Centre, Sutton Road, Seaford.

Wave will once again deliver the event which will offer a day of exciting competitions and activity opportunities for disabled participants to try new and different activities, demonstrate their sporting skills or just come and have some fun.

Starting at 10:00 a.m, the Games will include an Opening Ceremony, table tennis, Boccia, table cricket, kurling, archery, the ever popular Wheelchair Slalom and a delicious buffet lunch.

At the Games’ Awards Celebration, Michael Foster, the High Sherriff for East Sussex, will be presenting all the competitors with their certificates and medals.

“With Team GB Paralympian athletes back in the headlines, this is a great moment to inspire active lifestyles, celebrate achievements and show support for Team GB for Rio 2016.”

Commenting on the Games, Dawn Norman, Marketing Manager for the CTLA said: "The Seahaven Para Games encourages people to take part in and enjoy sports, promoting equality and inclusion in exercise.  CTLA is delighted to help ensure the participants of the games can reach the event by providing transport for the day."

Sadie Mason MBE, Chief Executive of Active Sussex added: “Active Sussex is proud to support the Seahaven Para Games for the fourth year in a row via our Community Games programme.  The event showcases the true power of sport and the benefits it can bring to all walks of life.  A message we are championing across Sussex to inspire more people to take up sport or physical activity.”

Bill Pierce, the President of the Rotary Club of Seaford said: “We are thrilled that the Para Games are entering their fifth year and we are honoured able to support this key event again.  The Rotary Club of Seaford is happy to be able to contribute to the Games and we wish all the competitors the very best of luck in their sporting endeavours.”

Jason Howell, Manager of Sainsbury’s Newhaven commented: ‘Sainsbury’s is delighted to be supporting the Para Games for the fifth year as we know how much everyone enjoys and benefits from taking part. As well as being a contribution to our local community it is in parallel with our support for the Paralympics taking place this year in Rio.’
