#ThisGirlCan – Tess Tries…Synchronised Swimming
#ThisGirlCan Sussex Ambassador Tess Agnew - aka FitBits - a Brighton-based fitness enthusiast is trying her hand at a number of new sports. She recently attended a synchronised swimming session at Freedom Leisure's Prince Regent Swimming Complex with the Brighton Dolphin Synchronised Swimming Team.
BLOGPOST: I’m not well known for my elegance. More a fan of hard HIIT sessions, boxing and running, my workouts default to ‘beast mode’ and I usually finish drenched in sweat.
So when I got the chance to try out synchronised swimming, I was apprehensive. Mostly of the deep water (having only learnt to swim a year or so ago and still got a thing about being out of my depth), but also of the precision and poise required to pull it off in style.
With a couple of triathlons coming up this year and also the Sport Relief Swimathon next month, swimming with grace is high on my To Do list. I’m a definite water slapper and love a good splash, have minimal coordination and cannot for the life of me tread water.
Brighton Dolphins Synchronised Swimming team invited me down to a session recently to learn the basics and join in a routine. They’re a really friendly (and patient!) bunch and looked after me marvellously.
If you fancy a go, they train three times a week at Prince Regents Swimming Complex in Brighton, taking part in local and national shows and competitions all throughout the year!
