Women and Girls Wellness – Community of Learning session – Tuesday, April 30

We are delighted to bring together the TGC Sussex Network and Sussex Health Instructor Network for a Community of Learning session focusing on Women and Girls Wellness.

When: Tuesday, April 30, 12.30-2pm

Where: Virtual Zoom

Event Description

What is wellness?
The Global Wellness Institute defines wellness as the active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.

This session will look at what can impact the wellness of women and girls, with some reflection on themes we have covered in previous learning events.

We will discuss and explore navigating the menstrual cycle and menopause, body changes (from breast health to pelvic floors) and related health conditions.

As a sector we need to better understand and acknowledge these body changes and how this connects with physical activity engagement both negatively (i.e why girls may stop participation) and positively (i.e. benefits physical activity can have to support a condition).

We are delighted that we will be sharing experiences and examples from local colleagues and partners throughout the session, including Carol Bates, BEM (Crawley Old Girls), Dee Harmer (Fish2Water), Heather Jury (Active Hastings) and Zoe Ward (Fit & Fab Families).

This session is open to all, so join us to listen, learn and consider ways of collaborative working to influence the system that empowers women and girls to be physically active to promote the wellness of both mind and body.
